This ponderous work, which has a preface by Cardinal Raffaele Farina, consists of three sections: History and Ecclesiology; Papal Primacy and Episcopate; The Great Synod and its dynamics.  It collects a total of 29 essays, in several languages ​​(Italian, German, French, English, Spanish). Among the various contributions, works written by Alexandra von Teuffenbach, Geoffroy de la Tousche, Hannibal Zambarbieri, Brian Ferme, Caesar Rise, Cardinal Walter Brandmüller, Don Nicola Bux, Marco Roncalli.
Three essays are written by Monsignor Marchetto himself. Among them, one is dedicated to the relationship primacy - episcopate and one entitled " Tradition and Renewal hugged each other : the Second Vatican Council ."
The Council itself becomes a theme of the book, in fact most of the articles collected here deal with one aspect of the theology of the Council , referring to other issues and experiences related to it and illustrating the ecclesial character of hermeneutics reconcile .
