The martyrology contains the saints which are celebrated in the church each day. This book is a huge, hefty volume and I think that this really brings across the message that it contains important information. The book is equipped with five (good quality) ribbons that won't fray. I think that this explains why the martyrology is quite an expensive book, but it's totally worth it.

The book explains how the martyrology can be used as a part of the Liturgy of the Hours or as a separate service (or even to be read during a meal, like in monasteries). It gives very clear guidelines.

The martyrology is in Latin and I'm glad that abbreviations are not used so that it is always clear what word is meant. There is a good alphabetical register at the end of the book, where you can look up the name of a saint and see on what day that saint's entry is read.
