Introduction by Msgr. Angelo Vincenzo Zani, Archivist and Librarian of the Holy Roman Church:

“The year 2025 is for the Catholic Church the year of the Ordinary Jubilee, in which the Vatican Library participates in accordance with its nature as an institution of science, preservation and study, revealing to the world, for the first time, one of its treasures: a collection of about 1,200 newspapers, of more than 1,000 different titles, from the most distant, if not remote, locations in the world, and dating from the last decades of the nineteenth century to the early twentieth century. There are from all languages, from Germanic to Celtic, Romance, Chinese, Arabic, from Slavic and Altaic to Indo-Aryan and Finno-Ugric, Bantu, Austronesian, the native languages of America, from Armenian to Japanese, including Iranian and Polynesian, mirroring the breadth of vision, insatiable linguistic curiosity and international career of its collector: Cesare Poma (1862–1932). “
